Pastor Jacquelyn Cannon is a native of Mobile, Alabama. In September of 1971, during a revival service at the former Bishop College in Dallas, TX, the Lord beautifully saved and filed her with the Holy Ghost. Since that time she has been a faithful member of the Full Gospel Holy Temple Ministry.
Pastor Cannon was the only wife of the late Honorable Bishop Paul Cannon, Jr. for 41 years. They served together as Pastor and First Lady of the Nash Full Gospel Holy Temple Church for over 36 years. She is the mother of five adult children: Jermia, Jeremy, Paul III, Jennifer, and Jon (deceased). She is the proud grandmother of five grandchildren: Camryn, Jace, Cole, Jayson, and Necoma.
She loves the Word of God and her favorite scripture, among others, is Romans 8:28; “And we know that all things work together for the good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.” She has made a firm commitment to follow the Word and carry out the plan God has for her life. Her main objective is to see souls saved and lives transformed by the power of God.
Pastor Cannon is a woman of God with a vision. This is evident by the numerous projects and programs she successfully instituted for God’s glory and honor. She has, down through the years, worked diligently and consistently with the Nash Full Gospel Holy Temple Women’s Auxiliary and Printing Department. She is founder of the Helping Hands Outreach Ministry & Food Pantry. God inspired and blessed her to write three heart stirring books, “The Lord Is Beautiful for Situations”, “All From the Heart”, and “The Memoirs Of A Gospel Preacher: Born to Lead”.
Her preaching ministry can be viewed every Sunday evening at 11pm on “The Living Word Telecast” - KSHV45. Her testimony and preaching has reached and blessed many across Texas, Arkansas, Tennessee, and beyond. She stands firmly on the Word of God and exemplifies a holy life that is an encouragement to all that meet her. She lives Philippians 4:13, “I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.”
After the Home going of Bishop Cannon, the Lord transitioned First Lady Cannon to position of Pastor. On January 16, 2015 she was formally ordained as Pastor of Nash Full Gospel Holy Temple Church where God has been blessing her by leaps and bounds. Truly it can be said that the same Spirit that rested on Bishop Cannon does rest upon Pastor Jacquelyn Cannon.
Nash Full Gospel opened its doors to do a work for God in 1975 on Taylor Street in Texarkana, Texas. God blessed mightily and we outgrew the Taylor Street location. The church moved in 1976 to 200 College Avenue in Nash, Texas. In May of 1977, Elder Paul Cannon and Evangelist Jacquelyn Cannon began their pastoral leadership of Nash Full Gospel. Pastor and Evangelist Canon were dedicated to the service of the Lord. They embarked upon new territory as they accepted the call of God to come to Nash, Texas. The ministry flourished under their leadership. For five months they traveled back and forth from Dallas to Texarkana for service. In the beginning of Pastor Cannon’s tenure, he was the church bus driver, he played the drums, preached the word and ministered to the needs of the saints. Evangelist Cannon would get the church in order for service, teach Sunday School/Bible Class, sing in the choir, cared for the children, and whatever her hands found to do. Elder and Evangelist Cannon were committed to the work of God and the people of God.
God blessed Elder Cannon to transfer from his job at Sears in Dallas to the Texarkana, Texas store in October 1977. He continued to work full time and minister full time as well. They sacrificed personally and financially so the ministry would be blessed. The first few years were trying years for the ministry, but they were determined to proclaim the gospel. Elder Cannon preached the word under the anointing. He taught us to have faith in God and to believe in His Word and as a result the saints were nourished and blessed. Many people came from far and near seeking salvation and deliverance. Souls were added to the church.
We began our first radio broadcast on KTWN and the second on KNBO New Boston Texas in 1988. We later added KTKC 92.9 FM and KJTX
104.5 and the Living Word Telecast. We reached another milestone when God blessed us to pay off the church mortgage. In 1987 Elder Cannon was appointed president of the Annual Youth Congress. In the same year the first issue of the Gospel Arising Newsletter was published. The church received television exposure when Elder Cannon was interviewed along with Reverend Mike Huckabee, who later became the governor of Arkansas. Nash Full Gospel was the first church in this area to advertise on television, anchored by Nick Jones on KMSS Fox 33. In 1991 Elder Cannon was promoted to Bishop and became the second bishop of Full Gospel Holy Temple Churches, Inc.
As a result of the prolific blessings of God we outgrew our small sanctuary (a renovated school building). God impressed upon Bishop Cannon to build a debt-free edifice. The ground breaking ceremony for the new church edifice was in June of 1991. The Bishop’s Kids: Operation EXCEL (educational tutoring and study program) and the Nurse’s Guild were also formed in that same year.
The walls of the new sanctuary went up in 1992 and in 1993 we entered the new debt free sanctuary. To God be the glory.
The ministry has been abundantly blessed as a result of determination, steadfastness, and unwavering faith and we give all the glory to God. Bishop will always be in our hearts and honored as the pioneer of this great ministry. We are committed to seeing this ministry continue.
